Beautiful Mess

Thought of the Day July 27, 2008

I’ve really been thinking a lot today how wonderful it is to have close friends.  I have some friends like Erin, Jenn, and Deana that have been my close friends for years.  I’m so blessed that we have been able to share in each other’s lives.  I don’t know what I would do without them.  It just stinks that they live so far away.

When Pat and I moved to Georgia, we prayed for friends.  We really wanted the kind of friends that share in each other’s lives.  God has answered our prayers.  We are so thankful for our close friends here in the area. I can’t tell you how nice it is to have people that I can go to when I’m having a meltdown or when I have something exciting to share.  I know that my life is much better because of these people.

So, if you are a friend of mine, thanks!  I appreciate you.

Shay has been eating rice cereal for two weeks now.  Today we decided to try some squash.  Shay really did enjoy the squash…but he really enjoyed getting on himself.

.

This is the before shot.

During the process.

He’s full and content.

Shay and Pat had some QT after he ate.

We are having a blast in this awesome city.  Shay is still on East Coast time.  We’ve already been to Starbucks, Walgreens, and spent about an hour in the hotel room chillin’ and it’s 7:30 here.  He has been doing so much better than I expected.  Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a baby…but he has been quite the trooper.

Here’s a pic of the two men in my life.

It’s kinda hard to tell what this is…but it’s a guy kite surfing.  It was a pretty cool thing to watch.

We do this often, and in some strange places.  Since I’m not totally comfortable with breastfeeding in public, I bought some disposable bottles with the formula in them (kinda like the kind from the hospital).  All I have to do is put a nipple and ring on.  Once he’s finished with the bottle, I throw it away.  It’s been nice to not have to wash tons of bottles.  I just bought some 2 oz. bottles for the airiplane ride home.

Pat did an excellent job planning this trip.  I’ve enjoyed everything so much.  I wish every anniversary could be this awesome!

Vacation Highlights July 1, 2008

We had a great time at the beach.  The place we stayed at was right on the beach.  It was great seeing my family; I really do love spending time with them.

Shay somewhat liked the beach. He took a few naps on the beach, hung out in the lazy river, and enjoyed the views. He’ll probably like it more next year when he’s a little more active.

It was very nice to get away for awhile.  There is just something about the beach that is so relaxing.
