Beautiful Mess

10 Random Reasons I Love My Husband September 27, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — mgillen @ 6:32 pm

I love Pat for so many different reasons.  Most of them are the big reasons like, he loves our family, or he provides for us, or that he reflects the character of God.  I wanted to list some random reasons I love Pat.

1. He records the shows that I want to watch, and I don’t have to even ask about it (sometimes he even records shows that he thinks I want to watch).

2. He always lugs the huge trash can up to the street on trash day (and takes care of the trash throughout the week)

3. He loves people.

4. He knows random facts like, which movie did Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Kevin Kline star in?

5. He always takes care of Bora (except in the am).  Pat always gives her medicine, feeds her, plays with her, etc.

6. He likes to think outside of the box.

7. He loves to get the mail with Bora.

8. He makes Shay light up with excitement whenever he walks into a room.

9. He takes care of my car.

10. Once he puts his mind to a task, he gets it done.

I warned you before you read, that these are totally random.  I love my husband; not just for the big things, but the small, random ones too.

Fall is here! September 27, 2008

I love fall.  It is probably my favorite season.  I love the crisp air, the beautiful colors, and the smells that are associated with fall.  This morning the family went outside to enjoy the weather.  It’s hard to stay indoors when it’s so beautiful outside!

What an awesome smile.  He totally looks like a Gillen here.

He got excited when Pat came out to play.

Good Weekend September 21, 2008

This has been a good and relaxing weekend.  Pat and I have enjoyed being able to open the windows and allow the cool breeze in.  Yesterday, we were able to go to Kristen’s house and pool.  It was nice seeing some of the girls, and hanging outside.  It was Ellie’s first pool experience. Ellie liked it more and more as the day went on.  Shay liked it once he got used to the temperature.

Shay enjoys the water…after he gets used to the temperature.

Shay loves hanging out with Ellie (he better, they hang out practically every day!)

They crashed.

Since we have been having church at night lately, I’ve been able to lounge around today.  Most weekends seem to fly by because they are jammed packed with activities.  It has been so nice to have a low key weekend.

I love my church September 15, 2008

I have to mention that I love church!  I’ve really enjoyed the new and improved Summit.  There is such a good vibe on Sundays.  I really do think that the two churches are meshing well.  I was encouraged last night as we met with the people interested in working with the kids.  We really do have some of the best volunteers out there.  I’m so excited to see where God takes us as a church.

Warner Robins September 15, 2008

Pat has his six week lasik appointment tomorrow in Macon, so we decided to come down to Pat’s parents house for a few days.  Shay loves coming down here because he gets so much attention.  Unfortunately, Gran Jan and Big Dog are only here for a few hours.  They are headed to Charleston for a few days.

I don’t really have too much planned for our time down here.  I’m pretty excited about having some time to just hang out with Pat and Shay.  I really do love my family!

Much Needed September 11, 2008

Last night I was able to go out to eat with the girls.  I really value that time.  Don’t get me wrong, the guys are wonderful, but there is something special about hanging out with just the girls.

On the way home from dinner last night I stopped by Starbucks (this probably doesn’t surprise anyone).  I don’t know if it was the coffee or what, but I had some crazy dreams last night!  I really need to start writing these things down.

This morning is starting off well.  Shay and Ellie are both content watching Baby Einstein for a little bit while I get a few things done.  I truly enjoy my time at home with the kids.  I love the job set up that Vanessa and I have this year.  Right when I need a break from teaching because I miss Shay too much, I get to.  Then, right when I start missing my students, I get to go back and see them.  I love teaching, and I love being at home.  This is definitely the best of both worlds.  It definitely wouldn’t be half as nice if I didn’t totally trust who was watching Shay.  I know that Shay is in wonderful hands with Vanessa.  It also helps that I love hanging out with Ellie!

God has definitely blessed me so much!

Here’s a pic of the two of them watching Baby Einstein (Ellie fell asleep and Shay didn’t know whether to look at me or the TV, he likes posing for pics)

I don’t want to leave Bora out (how pitiful)

What a face! September 6, 2008

I know this may be borderline gross, but I just can’t resist.  This is one of Shay’s many faces that my sister caught on camera.  I’m sure you have either seen Shay with this expression, or you can figure out what is going on here.  I’ll just leave it like that

Catching Up September 6, 2008

It has been forever since I’ve taken the time to blog.  I guess that going back to work has been more time consuming than I thought!  We’ve been busy since the last time I blogged, so I thought I would show some highlights in pictures.

This is one of the first pictures that I took when he was sitting up by himself.

We were able to go to Warner Robins for the weekend a couple of weeks ago.  We had a baby shower to go to, and Pat’s 10 year reunion.  It was a great weekend.  Gran Jan and Shay had a blast together.

So serious!

Shay made a new friend that weekend too!  Miles (Mitchell and Heather’s baby) and Shay started off their friendship by a few tears, but it ended well.  I am sure they will keep in touch.

Last weekend Shay and I went to my parent’s new beach house.  It was kinda a spur of the moment trip.  My parents, sister, aunt, uncle, and grandfather were all there!  It was so great to see everyone.  My grandfather absolutely loved hanging out with Shay.  This pic is him watching Shay play.  I may need to see if I can get video on here, because I have some great video of the two of them playing.

This has to be my favorite bath shot (thanks Erin for working it with the camera).  Shay loves bath time, especially when mama B is helping!

I’ve always wanted to get Shay in a hooded towel shot.  He’s just so cute!

Shay’s favorite aunt, Erin.  OK, she is his only aunt…but he loves her none the less!

My family has some great shots from the beach that I don’t have.  I will post some more pics when they send them to me (hint hint).

It’s been a great and crazy couple of weeks.
